What a great party. Jason and Sara had the ceremony and reception at the City Museum in downtown St. Louis. Brad Simon was the officiant, and even though he said it was his first time performing the ceremony, everything was great.

After a great introduction for the wedding party, dinner was served, then the party started. With all types of music played it seemed everyone had an awesome time.

What a popular date for a wedding. I’m priviledged to provide entertainment for Jason and Sara on this special day. I’m really looking forward to this celebration. Sara has been very active in picking out the special music, adding that “Special” touch to their day. The ceremony and reception will take place at the City Museum, in downtown St. Louis, MO. http://www.citymuseum.org/site/.

Types of Entertainment

There’s many different types of Entertainment other than just “Playing Music”. Some of these include the “Photo Booth” that’s really becoming a new type of fun to any party. And one of the great advantages of the Photo Booth is it’s fun for all ages. Even with the older generation, it brings back memories of growing up and having your picture taken in the photo booth at the corner drug store.

If you want to go with something that’s totally different, did you ever think of a “Game Show” system. This is just like the game shows you watch on TV! Questions displayed on a video screen for everyone to see, and all computer intergrated for answers and score. For different types of parties like rehearsal dinners, showers, birthday parties, anniversaries, reunions, and many other types of parties.

25th Wedding Anniversary and Great Party!

Saturday, July 16, 2011, was a great and fun day as we Celebrated the 25th Wedding Anniversary of Bart and Linda Haberstroh. The event began as many family and friends gathered at the Wittemore House. This is just across from Washington University, and where they held their reception 25 years ago. Bart and Linda renewed their vows to each other in a very emotional ceremony. After this, a buffet was served for everyone. And then on to the dancing! This was begun with Bart and Linda dancing to the “music video” of Dancing in the Minefields” by Andrew Peterson. Very nice with the video and these two on the dance floor. As the open dancing began, I also asked for Karaoke singers. Mixing this in with the dancing was fun and they had some really good singers. The night ended too soon, with many family and guests wanting more! Very fun couple, and friends and family who know how to party.

What is a “DJ”

When you start making your plans for your reception, one of the many vendors you need is a “DJ”. But what exactly is a “DJ” and what does he do?

Many people, in fact most people think the DJ is the “Entertainment”, and is a person who just plays music. Well, that’s one of the many things your DJ will do, but there’s so much more. Let me list just a few of the things your DJ will be doing to make your party a success.

Your DJ is a party planner. He/she will meet with you to go over all the details long before your party begins. I like to meet with any client not only before any contract is signed, but then meet again approximately 4-6 weeks prior to the reception. Sometimes this meeting takes a couple of hours, but sometimes it can’t even be completed in one session. Planning the details to make sure everything goes according to the clients wishes and plans is just one of the many responsibilities of your DJ.

Your DJ is a sound technician and light technician. Making sure the sound and lights are just right for all the guests is another thing that’s the responsibility of the DJ. The guests need to hear not only the music, but all announcements and speeches. The lights can add to the atmosphere as well, but need to fit the mood of the client and the music.

Your DJ is your MC, or Master of Ceremonies. The title pretty much says it all. This person is representing you to your family and invited guests to share this special day. This person must take this responsibility seriously. There’s special moments that need to be heard by everyone, and your Master of Ceremonies needs to be that person who can control the room and deliver the introductions and announcements, making sure everyone knows what’s going on. I”ve had training as a Master of Ceremonies through the MarBecca Method, by industry leader Mark Ferrell.

Wow…What a Weekend…..

This past weekend, March 19th and 20th, 2011, I had a busy but fun weekend. On Saturday, I met with two couples regarding their upcoming reception. And then, Saturday night, the newest additon to Celebrate Disc Jockey Service, the Celebrate Photo Booth, was busy making fun and memories for the reception of Jake and Nicole Brock. And then Sunday, we celebrated my mom’s 90th birthday. It was held in the “Fellowship” hall at the church right after the Sunday service. We had about 100-125 people stop by. There was family and a lot of friends who we haven’t seen for quite a while. It’s always good to see friends. And the Celebrate Photo Booth was busy again. This time it was so fun to see the guests whose age was well in the 80′s and beyond, having fun and talking about the memories they had with the photo booth. You’ve Set The Date….now what?

Ok, you’ve set the date. Now it’s preparations and planning for the ceremony and reception. You’ve dreamed of this day your entire life. Who do you invite, where will they stay, what kind of dress will I be wearing, on and on and on.

Let me recommend a book by a friend of mine, Peter Merry. The title of the book is: The Best Wedding Reception Ever…….I think you will find lots of GREAT ideas when it comes to planning your ceremony and reception.
